Toad Mire is our most exclusive Lakestead as it is the only property that is completely lake fronted. Toad Mire is one of the newest additions to our six architect designed holiday lodges completed in summer 2018. The accommodation is situated in tranquil surroundings in the Lake District National Park.

These luxury holiday lodges are approximately 3 miles from the historic village of Cartmel, a popular tourist attraction famous for its sticky toffee pudding, medieval Priory and local race course. It has several high quality cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. Cartmel also regularly pays host to a local Antiques Fair. 

Otter Tarn is just 3 miles from Newby Bridge at the foot of Lake Windermere, England's largest lake, and the perfection location from which to explore the southern and central Lake District. You can also enjoy a cruise on Lake Windermere, the nearest departure point is Lakeside where you can also take a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway.

The lodge is situated at the edge of the tarn and boasts breathtaking views throughout the day and the seasons. Seated on the private decked patio you have unequalled views across the lake and the best chance of spotting our resident otter or other rare visitors such as the osprey. Our hunting osprey was caught on camera by one of our guests, a talented amateur photographer. The painting commissioned for Toad Mire was based on this photo and the bird's markings match our visiting osprey.

An extra wow factor is the location of the hot tub. It sits up on the decking and you can look out across the lake whilst basking in the hot tub. What an experience! It's like having your own private lake.

There is woodland to the left and the right, with car parking to the rear. In the woods there is an abundance of wild garlic in the spring and a carpet of bluebells. Closer to the lake you will find wood anenome and wild orchids growing.
