Sustainability at Otter Tarn goes far beyond where you stay. Across our 500-acre private Lake District estate, we follow low-input farming principles, avoiding artificial fertilisers, minimising the use of heavy machinery and keeping bought-in concentrated feed to a minimum. We are creating new wetland habitats, planting more trees and actively managing our woodland, pasture and wildlife to protect and enhance the landscape for future generations.

Our environmental performance has also been independently audited, with the estate calculated to be net sequestering approximately 43,000 kg of CO₂e.
