Just three miles from the historic village of Cartmel and within easy reach of Lake Windermere, Silly Knott is ideally placed for exploring the southern Lake District. Cartmel is renowned for its restaurants, traditional pubs, independent shops, medieval Priory and famous sticky toffee pudding, while Lake Windermere offers scenic cruises, lakeside walks and days out on the water.

What makes Silly Knott particularly special is its generous private rear lawn, the only lodge at Otter Tarn to have its own private back garden. South-facing and wonderfully secluded, it is a beautiful place to enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine, with deer regularly grazing nearby and adding to the sense of being surrounded by nature.

The private hot tub sits beside the rear decking at the edge of the lawn, creating a secluded place to relax outdoors. In spring, deer are often seen with their fawns around the estate, inspiring a commissioned painting within the lodge and reflecting Silly Knott’s close connection to the wildlife and landscape of Otter Tarn.
